About Us
The Nigerian Institute of Homoeopathy is a Professional, Educational, and Membership Non Governmental Institution, dedicated to the promotion of Homoeopathy, Public Health and other forms of Alternative Medicines, through education, training, research, and advocacy.
The Institute was established in Enugu, Nigeria, in 1980 with the support of GOLGOTHAS Foundation, Greece. It was registered in 1981 with the Anambra State Government and in 1991, with the New Enugu State Government.
The Nigerian Institute of Homeopathy was at the forefront of the struggle for the recognition of Homeopathy and other forms of Alternative Medicine in Nigeria in the early eighties. The President of the Institute, Professor Ernest Ugo led the fight for many years, until the final recognition of Homeopathy, Glory be to God.
Incorporation
The Nigerian Institute of Homoeopathy was incorporated in the Federal Republic of Nigeria through the Corporate Affairs Commission in 1994, and is administered by a board of Registered Trustees and a Governing Council.
Registration with the United Nations
The Nigerian Institute of Homoeopathy is affiliated to the United Nations Headquarters, New York, U.S.A and holds a special consultative status with ECOSOC since 2005.
Other Affiliations
The Nigerian Institute of Homoeopathy signed a Memorandum of Understanding and Cooperation agreement with each of the following Institutions:
- Golgothas Foundation, Greece.
- The International Open University, Greece
- The International First Aid Society Nigeria.
